Microsoft Teams instructions

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of our response to COVID-19, we will be using Microsoft Teams as our online learning platform in the event of any bubbles having to self-isolate.

You can access Microsoft Teams via the free app or via a web browser (Safari, Google Chrome etc.) and it can be accessed on smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers. To log into your child’s Teams account, you will need their email address and password. If your child is unaware of their school email address, please write a message in their planner. It is normally the child’s surname, then first initial, followed by @blanford.dudley.sch.uk

You will be able to access and submit work using the Assignments tab. When work is outstanding, you should see a number, similar to a smartphone notification, showing how many pieces of work are ready to be completed. As part of Microsoft Teams, children can work online using apps such as Word and PowerPoint; so there is no need to worry if you do not have a personal copy of these programmes.

To test out this process, we would like the children to complete their Christmas homework on Teams. There is a PowerPoint that explains the task. Your child/children can either complete their homework on Word/PowerPoint and upload to Teams; or they can handwrite it and you can upload a photo to Teams from your smartphone/tablet. Please see the next page for detailed instructions as to how to access Teams.

This task is intended to be a quick, purposeful and fun activity for you to complete with your children; please do not spend more than 15 minutes completing it.

As you can appreciate, we are partially providing this homework task to help the children, ourselves and yourselves get used to using this new platform. Please let your child’s class teacher know if you have any difficulties with any of this.

Merry Christmas!

Mr Wade
