Year 1 are planning to visit the Forest School at Bodenham Arboretum on Wednesday 2nd July.
In Science throughout the Summer term, the children will be learning all about plants. During our visit to the arboretum the children will learn how to identify different species of trees as well as engaging in a variety of forest school activities including: cooking on an open fire, den building, and creating natural art. These experiences will provide children with the opportunities to further develop their ability to work in a team, to share, and problem solve. They will also strengthen their social and communication skills - all whilst having lots of fun with their friends! We will leave school at 9.15am and should be back for 3.00pm.
Children should wear their own clothes. Please can you send your child in old, warm clothes, with long trousers and long sleeves if possible, and they will need wellies or old shoes, as they will likely get wet or muddy. As we will be outside for the day, the children will also need waterproof coats, and if they have them waterproof trousers. Please make sure your child brings a sun hat and ensure sun cream is applied beforehand.
All of Year 1 are entitled to a free school meal so they will be provided with a grab bag for lunch. Alternatively, you may wish to provide your child with a packed lunch from home. Can you please complete the form indicating whether your child will like a grab bag for lunch; there will be a choice of ham, cheese or tuna, or whether they will be bringing lunch from home? Children will need to bring a small rucksack to carry their lunch and may bring 2 resealable drinks (please no fizzy pop or glass bottles).
A voluntary contribution of £19.71 will include the forest school provision and leader, all the forest school resources, coach travel and insurance. Please note that if insufficient contributions are received the event cannot go ahead. Please make payment online via School Money.
