Christmas  – “It’s a miracle!”

Dear Parents/carers,

I’m sure that you will agree that Christmas is a wonderful and special time of the year for most people, but particularly for children and their parents/carers.  This year, because of Covid 19, we have been thinking of ways that we can still share that magical experience with our school community, whilst adhering to the guidance that has been issued to schools.

We know that the Church Service, which involves children from Year 1 to Year 6 is an important part of our school community and brings the true meaning of Christmas alive for many!

This year we will not be able to hold the service at St Mary’s Church, so we plan to record the production and making a DVD for parents to buy, should they wish. The production will have every class from Year 1 to Year 6 taking part; Year 2 narrating the production as usual – so that they still have their big moment!  There will be an opportunity to purchase the DVD, this would be a great Christmas gift idea – the cost of the DVD will be £7.  The production will be recorded professionally Mac Productions Company, with the children whose parents have given consent.

Over the next week we will be sending out more plans for the festive period.

In order for your child to take part in the video recording, we need your consent.  To access  the form to do this, could you log onto the school website, click on the dark grey pencil ‘Forms’ Christmas DVD Consent form,  type in your child’s name and say yes or no to your child taking part by Friday 6th November 2020 @ 12.00pm. This will not be uploaded to the internet: it will only be able to be viewed by parents who purchase it.

At the start of next week Teachers will then allocate speaking parts to some children (not all) whose parents have given consent.  If there are insufficient numbers of parental consents received then the production will not go ahead.

We appreciate that these arrangements will be very different from ususal; we are trying to keep school routines and traditions with parents as close to normal as possible, within the current Government guidance and restrictions.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Miller and Miss Stanton

 Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher

Please note that Nursery and Reception children do not perform at the church- we will have other festive activities planned, which we will share with parents shortly.
