Article 29
Education must develop every child’s personality, talents, and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.
Year 5/6 Himley Trip
On Monday 9th June, Year 5-6 had a fantastic visit to Himley Hall as part of a local heritage project. We learnt about the history and geography of Himley Hall as well as enjoying several short walks. The children had the opportunity to sketch some of the geographical and historical features and the ice cream van was a big hit at lunchtime when it finally arrived! Year 5-6 represented Blanford Mere really well whilst we were at Himley Hall and when walking there and back. Well done, Year 5-6!
What the children said:
Amelia, 5-6MB: "I enjoyed the natural art in the woods because I got to be creative with my friends. I enjoyed walking around the lake because we saw lots of wildlife - we even spotted some large goose eggs!"
Thomas, 5-6AR: "I thought it was extraordinary! It felt like a trip I could make again with my mom and dad. I especially enjoyed having the ice-creams on the hot day and creating marvellous artwork/structures in the woods."
Mya, 5-6HO: "I learnt that the water in the great pool at Himley comes from the smaller pools further up. We saw lots of small waterfalls where the water flows down. We saw lots of bees collecting nectar and pollinating. When we closed our eyes we could hear lots of birds, the running water and the breeze."
Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Maths Championships – Tuesday 10th June 2025
We are extremely proud of the children for reaching the final, beating 120 schools throughout the West Midlands to compete at Woodside Primary.
Unfortunately, the children did not win the competition, but we are incredibly proud of them for making the final and showing their mathematical flair. Each child won a Wild Zoo entry ticket, Helix pens, and a certificate.
Well done, children! We hope to be winners again next year!
Nursery Sports Day Wednesday 11th June
All the children took part in a variety of races, and there was a fabulous atmosphere throughout the event. The parents joined in with the spirit of the day and cheered the children on. Each child was awarded a medal for their effort, courage, and participation.
We would like to thank Mr Postings from Puresport for organising and leading the event.
A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all!
Year 2 Safari Park trip
Year 2 had a fantastic trip to the Safari Park on Thursday 12th June. We had the pleasure of Molly, a Safari Park Ranger, join us on the coach as we journeyed round the animals. She was so knowledgeable about all the animals and the children (and the teachers to be honest) all learnt something new! We also enjoyed a super workshop, which allowed the children to meet a Giant Hissing Cockroach – named ‘Histopher’ and a Chinchilla. They then had the opportunity to create a habitat to cater for the cockroach’s needs. Thank you to all parents who supported us with this trip. We appreciate this was a little more costly than usual, but the children really did have a fabulous time and the trip from the staff’s perspective achieved above and beyond!

Yr 6 SATs Celebration Colour run
On Thursday 12th June, children from Blanford Mere took part in a fantastic Colour Run, where they had lots of fun running through clouds of colourful paint! By the end, they were completely covered – and smiling from ear to ear. It was a brilliant morning full of energy and laughter, and all the children represented the school brilliantly throughout the event.

Yr5/6 Play On the Pitch Wolves Foundation Tournament
On Friday 13th June, our football team had the exciting opportunity to play in a tournament at Molineux Stadium. The team performed brilliantly, reaching the quarter-finals, where they drew 1-1 and narrowly missed out on progressing further after a penalty shootout. All the children represented the school with great teamwork, determination, and respect throughout the day – we are incredibly proud of them!
