Black Country Living Museum

On a cold, wet Friday, Year 5-6 had a great time visiting the Black Country Living Museum. They went down the coal mine where they experienced life as a coal miner and even had a narrow boat ride through the Dudley Tunnels. It was a brilliant trip which brought to life our classroom learning, demonstrating to the children what a rich and fantastic heritage we have in our local area.

Alby: "I enjoyed the mines the best because it showed us what it was really like to be a coal miner in Dudley."

Jensen: "I learned about the different jobs that people used to do - I especially liked the mines and learning about the coal miners."

Ellie: “I enjoyed the trip.  I liked the canal tunnels, even though I got a bit wet.  It was a bit scary in the mine but at least we had torches.”’

Year 5/6 Maths Championship

The highly successful Inter-School Maths Championship has taken place on 21st at Priory Primary School, Dudley. Year 5/6 team came second in their heat and are through to the final in June against 12 other schools across the West Midlands. The competition encompasses an exciting range of mathematical challenges, puzzles and problem-solving tasks which pupils work through, in their school groups, to accumulate points.  Well done to Freya, Mason, Frankie R, Destiny, Leo T and Daniel, good luck in the final.

Helen Owens, who runs the competition sent the following:

Hello All

Congratulations finalists. I bet you are all really proud of your pupils. Well done to everyone! The pupils did so well to reach the final and their mathematical skills shone through.

The finals will be at Priory Primary again on Tuesday 18th June 1:00pm – 3:45pm. It will be in the KS2 hall as there will be 12 schools in the final. The school that wins the final will be presented with a trophy. School Council

Our School Council have been working hard to keep our local area tidy. They have been litter picking in the area around the school to make sure that we have a happy and healthy walk to school. They have collected a huge sack of rubbish from a small section of land near the park and will continue to care for the area surrounding our school. Well done School Council!!!!!
