Dear Parents / Carers,
On Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th June we are hoping to visit the Diglis Island and Fish Pass on the River Severn at Worcester. Year 5 will visit on Wednesday 25th June. Year 6 will visit on Thursday 26th June.
We have arranged this exciting trip for Year 5/6 for the Summer Term as part of the topic we are going to be studying. We would love to be able to take the children on a trip that will enhance their learning as they get to experience local geography and history first-hand. The visit will give the children the opportunity to learn about the Midlands region, focussing on rivers and how they are used. We will be investigating the history of the River Severn, and the engineering involved in making the fish pass.
We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £8.43 per child. This covers coach travel with insurance. The workshops are provided free of charge by the Canal and River Trust.
We will be spending most of the day outside. Children should wear their own, appropriate, clothes, a waterproof coat, sun hat and appropriate footwear. Children will need to bring a packed lunch and two re-sealable drinks bottles (not fizzy please) in a bag that they are able to carry all day. We will be given a timeslot to eat our lunch under cover.
The coach will leave school at 9.15am and will return at approximately 3.10pm. Children will be dismissed from the Key Stage 2 gate as usual.
Please note that if we have insufficient contributions, then the visits cannot go ahead.
Please complete the online forms using the school website ‘forms’ tab – labelled ‘Y5-6 Fish Pass Trip 2025’ and pay online by Friday 30th May 2025.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Baker, Mrs Oliver & Mr Raybould
