On Friday 23rd January, Year 1 children will be taking part in a Burns Night Scottish Celebration Day in school to enhance their learning of their Highlands and Homelands topic. The children will be taking part in a variety of activities including Scottish dancing and music, Scottish themed art work, learning about traditional Scottish food and being given the opportunity to taste some of it (if they wish), as well as learning about Robert Burns and his poetry and the traditions of Burns Night celebrations.
It will be a non-uniform day for Year 1 and we ask that children come into school wearing something 'Scottish themed'. This doesn't have to be full on Highland Dress - it could be something as simple as incorporating a tartan hat, ribbon or scarf, wearing something with a 'Scottish theme' (like 'Nessie' or a Highland cow) or just dressing in the blue and white colours of the Scottish St Andrews flag.
We are looking forward to a fun day which will bring their topic to life!
Thank you for your continued support and please make a note in planners if there are any queries.
