Dear Parents,

We have arranged for Year 5-6 to take part in a Heritage Project at Himley Hall. This experience will further enrich the children’s curriculum and enhance the learning of our current topic.

On Monday 9th June, we will carry out our Heritage Project for the day at Himley Hall. In order to not incur any costs, we will be walking from school to Himley Hall and back again on the path following the main road. Whilst there, the children will complete a variety of activities to learn more about our local area. Himley Hall know we are visiting and the toilets will be open for us to use. Children should arrive at the normal time at school and will be dismissed at their normal time too.

This is an outdoor trip  and will still go ahead unless we encounter extreme weather conditions. Furthermore, it is essential that the children come fully prepared and equipped for a day of fun and learning outside. Please note:

  • The children might get wet or muddy so don’t wear brand new clothes or trainers.
  • The children must wear suitable clothing that can be removed and replaced, as needed, depending on the temperature. E.g. waterproof trousers, joggers, trousers worn, no skirts for girls.
  • If it is going to be hot, please wear/bring suncream and a hat.
  • Suitable footwear must be worn (comfy walking boots, wellies or trainers, NOT school shoes or fashion boots).
  • A waterproof coat if the weather forecast looks wet!
  • A rucksack to go on their backs to carry 2 healthy snacks, a packed lunch, at least 2 drinks (non-fizzy) with closable lids. We may not be able to refill drinks.

There will be no cost to this trip, but please complete the consent form on the Blanford Mere School website entitled ‘Year 5/6 Himley Visit’ by 29.05.25. If your child is entitled to a free school meal we can provide your child with a grab bag for lunch. Alternatively, you may wish to provide your child with a packed lunch from home. Can you please indicate on the form whether your child would like a grab bag for lunch – there will be a choice of ham, cheese or tuna – or whether they will be bringing lunch from home.

We are hoping to have time to buy ice-creams from the ice-cream van. If you are happy for your child to purchase one, please ensure that you send some money in a wallet/purse that your child will be responsible for. We recommend no more than £5.

I’m sure you’ll agree that this experience will be extremely worthwhile; a super chance for the children to experience the heritage of our local area and appreciate possibilities open to them in the future.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Raybould, Mrs Oliver & Mr Baker
