Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to inform you that Blanford Mere will be holding a special celebratory day on Tuesday 2nd June 2026 in recognition of Eid al-Adha.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is an important religious festival celebrated by Muslims around the world. It commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim and highlights key values such as generosity, compassion, and community. It is a time when families come together, share food, and give to those in need.
To mark this occasion, we would love for children to come to school dressed in their own clothes, choosing outfits that are bright, colourful, and celebratory.
Throughout the day, the children will have the opportunity to take part in a range of engaging activities, including:
- Tasting samosas (dependent on supply)
- Participating in an Indian dance workshop
-
Trying Mehndi (henna art), where appropriate. If you’d rather your child not take part with the Mehndi, please write a message to their class teacher in your child’s planner on the day.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for our school community to learn, celebrate diversity, and enjoy new cultural experiences together.
If your child has any dietary requirements or allergies, please ensure any updates reach the school office in advance.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a joyful and enriching day.
Many thanks,
Miss B Hughes
RE Subject Leader.
