Trunk Theatre - The Gunpowder Plot
On Thursday 9th November, Years 1 and 2 enjoyed an educational, fun-filled visit from the Trunk Theatre company. The production The Gunpowder Plot! told the terrible tale of old and why we celebrate Fireworks Night. Trunk Theatre took us back to 1605 and we learnt about Guy Fawkes and the dastardly plan he nearly brought to fruition.
Here's what some of the children had to say:
1MC
Ruby - We learnt about why we see fireworks at Bonfire.
Noah - We learnt about Guy Fawkes.
1JB
Lillia - We watched Guy Fawkes, he tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. He failed.
Jack - I liked their character costumes and their hats.
2BW
Heather - I enjoyed the party poppers which were just like an explosion!
Archie D - At the end, we all got to draw and colour our favourite parts of the play on long pieces of paper.
2JC
Lottie - I enjoyed learning about the plot and the explosions.
Daisy - We saw the men get arrested.
Year 2 – St Mary’s Church Visit.
On Monday 14th November, Year two visited St Mary's Church in Kingswinford and had a fantastic time! We were met by Father Adam who shown us around and we learnt lots of incredible facts. Please ask your children what they have learnt π
Isla - "Candles with poppies at the bottom because it was Remembrance Day yesterday".
Harvey - "St Mary's church is named after Mary, Jesus' mom".
Oliver - "We saw a war memorial that was very old”.
Lottie - "A font is where they put water on the baby’s head when they get christened".
Tilly-Mai - "There was a special place that a knight and a soldier was in".
Anti-bullying week 2023
This year’s ‘Anti-bullying Week’ kicked off with ‘Odd Socks Day’ and a ‘World Kindness Day’ online assembly. Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week. We have celebrated what makes us all unique and how to spread kindness!
Anti-Bullying Week 2023 is coordinated in England, Wales and Northern Ireland by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. This year it had the theme 'Make A Noise About Bullying'.
Year 3 had a Loudmouth ‘Bully 4 U’ workshop. The Bully 4 U programme takes common bullying scenarios such as cyberbullying, sexist bullying, and homophobic bullying, and through drama they bring these issues to life.
A big thank you and well done to Aurora in 5/6B for writing her own acrostic Bullying Poem.
Bullying Poem
Bullying is not nice,
Understand that bullying is not classed when it’s done twice,
Leave those bullies in the dust – stand up to them, that is a must,
Let everyone be happy, let no-one be unhappy,
You can help,
In school, let’s take a big step,
No-one should be scared to shout it out,
Grow your confidence and let love and happiness reign throughout.
Aurora

Daisy - Odd Sock Day was important because we learned about being different and that's okay.
Year 3/4JC

Arran - We have learnt to tell the difference between bullying and banter. Banter is when everyone thinks it's funny, bullying is when it upsets someone, it's done more than once and it is on purpose. STOP it.
