You have the right to an identity – an official record of who you are. No one should take this away from you.

YR 2 Learning

On Thursday 10th November, Year 2, were continuing their work around The Gunpowder Plot of 1605. They discovered that some of the plotters escaped all the way to Kingswinford and Wall Heath, and some of them were arrested or killed at Holbeache House. They then worked out that a lot of the road names on Chaterfield’s Estate were named after people connected with the plot, so they decided to investigate. The children had a wonderful time using their historical enquiry skills to link road names to the plotters! They could not believe that such an important part of our national history had repercussions so close to our school. We hope they have enjoyed telling you all about it!

On Friday 11th November – we remembered those who fought for us and those that lost their lives in the war.  We held a minute’s silence.  Thank you to everyone that supported this years Poppy Appeal – we will let you know how much was raised a huge £742.82! Wow!

Friday 18th November –Children In Need

Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox appeal 2022

A huge thank you to those families who sent a shoebox filled with gifts.  They are now on their way to those children, who without your generosity, would not receive anything this Christmas time.

Odd Socks Day

Thank you to those parents for supporting ‘Odd Socks day’ on Monday 14th November.  Throughout this week - Anti Bullying Week, we have been raising awareness of issues surrounding this subject.

Year 6 SATs – change of date information

An additional bank holiday in honour of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Monday 8 May 2023. As this date had previously been announced as the first day of the 2023 key stage 2 (KS2) test week in England, a change to the KS2 test schedule next year will be necessary.

Ministers have considered the situation carefully and have decided that KS2 tests will take place in the same week with tests following the usual order but each taking place one day later than originally planned. As such, the new schedule will be:

  • Tuesday 9 May: English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) papers 1 (questions) and 2 (spelling)
  • Wednesday 10 May: English reading paper
  • Thursday 11 May: mathematics papers 1 (arithmetic) and 2 (reasoning)
  • Friday 12 May: mathematics paper 3 (reasoning)

Parking near school.

We still have issues regarding parking in the roads near school. We also have a number of parents now parking on the yellow ‘zig-zags’ outside the main school entrance. This is dangerous as it restricts the vision of pedestrians and vehicles accessing the school site. There are lots of parents and children using the pathway into the school office at the start and end of the day – please help us to keep everyone safe by keeping the access clear.

Please note that any emergency vehicles use the main entrance – cars parked inappropriately at the front of the school make it difficult to reach the school. We are asking for your support by not parking on Mimosa Walk please.

On Thursday 15th December 2022, there will be a ‘TT Rock Star Dress Up Day’. When children can answer questions up to x12 in the 'studio' game and achieve Rock Star status, Rock Legend status, or Rock Hero status for the 1st time, they will be able to dress up. Any child who remains on Rock Hero status will always be able to dress up on TTRS days – check your child’s planner to see if they are able to.

Please encourage your children to go on TT Rock Stars.  TT Rock Stars helps children improve their times tables when used regularly – it is recommended that children use it for at least 3 minutes per day.  All children who are able to dress up will have a sticker in their planner.

There is no download needed and it works on PC and Mac, but there are free APPs available for Android, Apple and Amazon phones and tablets.

Please remember to use Mathletics too, as homework will continue to be set weekly on this. Thank you for your support.

Santa Dash!

On Friday 16th December, we would like to celebrate Christmas by holding a festive 'Santa Dash'. On this day, children can attend school in their favourite Christmas jumper or dressed as Santa Clause. Each class will take part in a festive mile challenge where they will run a mile-long course set up in the KS1 and KS2 playground.

Please make sure the children are wearing appropriate footwear such as trainers or pumps, so they can take part in the fun run safely. If your child does not wish to dress up, then they are expected to attend school in their normal school uniform. Please don't send your child to school in their own 'non-festive' clothes or wearing football kits. We look forward to seeing lots of festive children on this day. We are not asking for any payment or donation to take part in this event.  It is just for fitness and fun!

Christmas Singalong

On Friday 16th December 2022, we will be having a Christmas Sing-along, at 2.45pm (weather permitting). All of the children in school from year 1 to year 6 will gather in the back playground to sing a variety of some popular festive songs for you as a fun ending to the term. Parents are welcome to join us – please wait outside the KS2 gates (yr3/4 and 5/6 entrances).  We will ask parents to stand behind the coned off area of the playground.  Once the children have finished singing, please make your way out of the KS2 gate and your children will be dismissed from their usual exit.

Friday 16th December 2022 – School closes for the Christmas Break at the usual time.

Tuesday 3rd January 2023– School reopens for the spring term.

Thank you for your continued support.
