PCR tests for contacts of positive cases

Public Health understand from parent feedback that when calling 119 to request a PCR test as contact of a positive case this is sometimes being refused on the grounds that the child does not have symptoms.  This is being addressed at a national level.

The government guidance is clear on this.
“If you're self-isolating because you've been in close contact with someone who's tested positive.”
If you've been in close contact with someone who's tested positive for COVID-19 you can get a PCR test, whether or not you have symptoms”

PHE are encouraging parents to obtain the test via the online booking system as opposed to calling 119

Thank you.
